About the Author

Princess Marthe Bibesco

” ‘And what are you reading, Miss–?’ ‘Oh! it is only a novel!” replies the young lady, while she lays down her book with affected indifference, or momentary shame.

‘It is only (a novel); a work in which the greatest powers of the mind are displayed, in which the most thorough knowledge of human nature, the happiest delineation of its varieties, the liveliest effusions of wit and humour, are conveyed to the world in the best-chosen language.’ ”

–Jane Austen

I cannot pretend that my writing, newly commenced as it is, displays those qualities which Miss Austen so beautifully illustrates here, in the defense of the novel.  But I enjoy writing, and I hope you will enjoy these postings on romance and history.

Like history?  Fall in love with it!

  1. Angelyn,
maybe you could write a piece about the wonderful Whig ‘King of Clubs’ club (see Wikipedia for an introduction). I’m sure your readers would enjoy it.
